The introductory API price is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Google says standard pricing of $4 and $20 respectively will apply after November 30, 2026. The API supports a unified input-output limit of one million tokens.

Google positions Argon for demanding work in software engineering, document analysis and scientific research. Its announcement describes internal projects and early customer applications, but reported productivity improvements remain results presented by Google rather than guarantees for other deployments.

For developers, broader availability creates an opportunity to test the model against their own workflows. Evaluation should consider completed tasks, correction effort, latency and total cost alongside benchmark scores. Long context can accommodate more material, but reliable execution still depends on how accurately a system uses that information.
