Anthropic opened its Singapore office on October 14 and signed a memorandum of understanding with the country’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information. The office is its fifth in Asia-Pacific.
The agreement covers AI safety, security and model evaluation, research into adoption and its effects, and responsible use across public and private organizations.
Planned work includes technical exchanges on testing standards and incident response, as well as support for AI skills and adoption. These remain cooperation plans; the signing does not establish that the programs have been completed.
The relationship predates the new office. Anthropic joined Singapore’s Generative AI Evaluation Sandbox in 2023 and later participated in multilingual red-teaming work covering English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil.
The announcement combines a larger local presence with a framework for further technical cooperation. It does not describe a new model release or a nationwide government deployment.
