Reading in a large batch of material is only the beginning of a long task. What matters next is whether the model can call tools, verify results, spot errors, and keep revising—which is what determines what it can deliver.
Kimi's newly released K3.1 Pro puts these continuous-working capabilities front and center. According to the official introduction, the new model is post-trained on K3 and supports a context of 1 million tokens; the simultaneously launched Highspeed version is said to offer two to three times the speed of the standard version.
From code to 3D and professional work
Beyond modifying code and building projects, Kimi also demonstrated the model calling 3D software, generating parametric models, and handling financial materials and workbooks. These scenarios all require the model to maintain its task goal across multiple steps and continue working based on the results returned by tools.
However, the demos and evaluations still mainly come from the vendor. Accuracy, rework volume, and operating costs in specific projects need to be tested by users with their own materials.
Product available, weights on a separate timeline
K3.1 Pro and the Highspeed version are already available through Kimi, Kimi Work, Kimi Code, and the API. The company promises that the full model weights will be released by November 4, 2026.
This means teams can try it now in the hosted products; those hoping to deploy it themselves will still need to wait for the weights and accompanying information. For long tasks, what is worth recording is not only response speed, but also how many times humans need to take over to complete the entire job.
