Poland’s national research institute NASK is joining OpenAI’s network of public research partners studying the risks of increasingly capable AI.

The agreement, announced October 23, brings OpenAI together with NASK’s AI Safety Research Center, which serves as Poland’s Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute. Planned collaboration covers evaluating AI systems, investigating vulnerabilities and strengthening protections.

NASK brings research interests shaped by public services and Poland’s information environment. Its director highlighted synthetic-content detection, malicious uses of AI and challenges that vary across languages.

Those priorities give the partnership a practical focus. Tests developed around one language or deployment setting may leave questions unanswered elsewhere; national institutions can contribute the local knowledge needed to examine them.

The announcement establishes a framework for collaboration. It does not yet report findings from the new agreement.

OpenAI places the partnership alongside its work with safety institutions in the United States and United Kingdom. As that network expands, shared evaluation methods and published research will help others assess what the cooperation delivers.
