AI-generated conceptual illustration of cross-application office collaboration
Tencent has released Buddy One, with WorkBuddy as its workspace, connecting office tools such as documents and meetings, and using Tencent Drive for unified storage. The real value of cross-app AI will depend on whether materials can be accurately retrieved, whether permissions can be clearly enforced, and whether task outputs can continue to flow.
After a meeting ends, the minutes remain in the meeting tool, the proposal is written in a document, and reference materials are stored somewhere else. When it is time to compile project progress, people still have to first gather all the materials, check versions, and then hand the content to AI for processing.
Buddy One, officially released by Tencent on October 29 at the Global Digital Ecosystem Summit, aims to shorten this preparation process.
According to Tencent Cloud's official product blog, Buddy One uses WorkBuddy as its workspace and integrates tools including Tencent Docs, Tencent Lexiang, and Tencent Design, with Tencent Meeting providing meeting context. Tencent Drive, released at the same time, provides unified storage, enabling the context used by agents and the generated outputs to be saved, retrieved, and continuously accumulated.
After Work Entry Points Are Centralized, Materials Still Need to Be Connected Accurately
The connections among these tools create conditions for continuously handling office tasks.
For example, when preparing a project retrospective, an employee may need to find confirmed decisions from meetings, obtain the latest proposal from documents, and then organize to-dos based on archived materials. If the system can identify sources and versions, employees have the opportunity to spend more time judging content rather than repeatedly searching for and moving it.
This is an editorial example used to explain cross-app collaboration; the specific results still need to be verified in the product. Files with the same name, outdated proposals, and temporary opinions expressed in meetings may all cause deviations in the organized results. A report that looks complete still needs to allow users to trace back to the original materials.
Permissions also affect how far this capability can go. A person being able to view meeting records does not mean they can read all files in the project; being able to generate a document does not mean they can directly send or modify key records on behalf of the team.
Enterprise Business Integration Still Needs to Be Implemented Item by Item
At the same conference, Tencent also introduced the direction for connecting the enterprise agent platform ADP with WorkBuddy. The official statement is that it is promoting deep integration between the two to enable vertical business agents to connect to the workspace. This progress should be understood separately from the official release of the Buddy One office suite.
For enterprises, connecting internal systems also involves data fields, business rules, and approval responsibilities. Querying order status, generating customer follow-up drafts, and actually changing an order require different permissions and confirmation methods.
AIYXL believes that future observations of Buddy One can be developed around a real task: where materials are obtained from, whether citations are accurate, who confirms the results, and where they are saved after confirmation.
When these steps can operate continuously, cross-app office work will generate measurable value. The centralization of product entry points provides a starting point for this; accuracy and traceability in actual work will determine whether employees are willing to use it over the long term.
